Phoenix Station Highlights Arizona Fishing Challenge

ABC15 Arizona helped promote outdoor recreation and conservation through coverage of Arizona’s Fish250 Challenge, a statewide America 250 initiative encouraging anglers of all ages to explore Arizona’s waterways and fisheries. By highlighting the program’s educational and family-friendly opportunities, the station informed viewers about ways to connect with nature, support conservation efforts and experience the state’s diverse outdoor resources.


Beasley Media Group’s multiplatform America 250 initiative will bring defining moments from 1776 to life with new spots and interviews. “At this pivotal time in our nation’s history, Philadelphia holds an especially unique and powerful place in telling America’s story. Through our Community of Caring Initiative, we’re proud to share that story across our platforms – connecting our audiences to the past while celebrating what lies ahead,” said Heidi Raphael, chief communications officer, Beasley Media Group.
Nexstar Media Group’s "Investing in America" is a national news initiative examining major investments shaping the country’s future. The series highlights communities across the nation that are driving growth through infrastructure modernization, workforce development, housing, education small business expansion, and emerging technologies. “As the nation’s largest local television station group, Nexstar has the unique ability to spotlight the stories of investing, innovation, and economic growth happening in communities across the country,” said Andrew Alford, President of Nexstar’s broadcast division. “‘Investing in America’ will bring viewers an in-depth look at the projects and leaders helping to shape a brighter future as the nation approaches its 250th birthday.”
Graham Media Group’s News 10 in Roanoke, Va., is marking America’s 250th anniversary with “Patchwork 250.” The initiative is inspired by Virginia’s history, comprised of many stories like pieces of a patchwork quilt. “On this 250th Anniversary of our Country and our State, WSLS invites you to rediscover Virginia’s past and present, to celebrate our people, heritage, and shared experiences,” the station says.
The Walt Disney Company’s celebration of America 250 will include a two-hour primetime special from ABC News Studios “that journeys through the heart of our nation,” connecting audiences to the extraordinary people, places, histories, and traditions that make America unique. In addition, Disney is expanding its longstanding relationship with Blue Star Families through a $2.5 million donation, and ABC News will provide live coverage of celebrations and activations featuring veterans and active military service members stationed around the world.
Sinclair, Inc.’s Up North Live in Traverse City, Mich., put out a call for images to support their America 250 coverage with user-generated content. “Whether it be a difference maker in your community or a local landmark, we want to see your pictures of what you think makes America beautiful!” the station said.
Nexstar Media Group’s 22 News in Springfield, Mass., covered the city of Chicopee’s America 250 inaugural ball, recognizing the collaborative spirit of the community and the importance of public service. “Let’s wear some red, white, and blue and show some pride for this amazing country we all love,” Mayor John Vieu told the station.
