iHeartMedia owned WHO-AM Des Moines, IA afternoon drive host Simon Conway met Kerri Kasem, daughter of the late Casey Kassem, and was inspired by her story about being denied access to her father during his final days. Through radio advocacy, Conway joined Kassem’s state-by-state campaign to develop protective legislation. The work paid off when on April 24, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad signed the “Adult Visitation Bill” into order. Iowa is the first state to enact such legislation.
