The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) recently announced the recipients of the 2016 Sigma Delta Chi Awards for excellence in journalism. Judges chose the winners from entries in categories covering print, radio, television and online. Winning radio and television stations provided reports of national events, including the Pulse night club shooting and protests at Standing Rock, in addition to topics such as cases of black lung in Appalachia, voting rights of felons and domestic violence.
