WEAR Helps Seniors Beat the Heat

The Senior Chill Out campaign from Pensacola, Fla.’s WEAR-TV, owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, collected 472 fans, 467 air conditioners and $96,146 in cash from viewers and corporate donors. Now in its twelfth year, the campaign collaborates with the Council on Aging to help provide senior years relief during the summer heat.

WEAR senior news anchor Sue Straughn, a champion of the campaign, wrote her thanks to the local “community of Angels” for their support. “For the hundreds who are safer today because of your kindness, Channel 3 says, ‘thank you.’”
