WIVB Investigates Environmental Contamination in Buffalo

An investigation from Nexstar Media Group’s WIVB in Buffalo, N.Y., reported on violations of a local manufacturer’s wastewater permit. Great Lakes Cheese, a company that the station says, “conomic development officials and dairy farm advocates have characterized as a catalyst for new investments in Western New York’s dairy industry,” is undergoing efforts to improve the wastewater treatment facility. “We are committed to holding responsible parties accountable and ensuring the protection of the environment and communities in Cattaraugus County,” NYSDEC Commissioner Amanda Lefton said in a statement.
